DeWalt DCS334 20V MAX XR Brushless Jigsaw Review
Mini Review
Solid cordless jigsaw. The lever-action blade change at the front is the feature that makes a real difference once you’ve used it: no hex key, no stopping the work. The brushless motor holds speed on heavier cuts. Good overall package on the 20V platform.

Overview
The DCS334 is DeWalt’s 20V MAX XR brushless top-handle jigsaw. It runs 0–3,200 strokes per minute with a 1-inch stroke and a 4-position orbital setting, has an all-metal lever-action keyless blade change, an LED and a built-in dust blower. The shoe bevels 0–45° with stops at 0°, 15°, 30° and 45°. It weighs about 4.6 lb. The tool-only DCS334B comes with one blade.
What We Like
- Lever-action keyless blade change at the front. No hex key, no stopping the work.
- Brushless motor holds speed in denser stock.
- Variable speed helps start cuts without the blade jumping.
- 4-position orbital action for fast rough cuts or clean finish cuts.
- Bevel stops at 0°, 15°, 30° and 45°.
What We Don't Like
- For all-day cutting, keep a spare battery.
- About 4.6 lb with no battery; heavier than compact jigsaws.
First Impressions
Feels solid without being heavy. The front blade latch is the first thing you notice, and it works as well as it looks. It’s fast enough that you’ll change blades more often because of it. No play in the bevel adjustment. The base plate sits flat against the material with no rocking. The grip is slightly narrower than the Makita XVJ01Z, which I actually prefer for one-handed control on tighter cuts.

Full Review
Used this on curved cabinet trim cuts and rough demo cuts on a remodel job. The brushless motor doesn’t slow the way older jigsaws do when you push into dense stock — speed stays consistent. Variable speed is useful for starting cuts in tile without the blade jumping around.
The blade change is the real thing here. Swap blades in under 10 seconds without setting the tool down. Bevel locks clean at 0 and 45 with no play after you make the adjustment.
Battery life is reasonable — a 5Ah gets through most jobs. For full-day cutting keep a spare. It’s a step up from DeWalt’s brushed DCS331. For anyone already on 20V DeWalt doing regular cutting work, this is the right jigsaw. Recommended for DIY, Handyman, and Contractor.
