Bosch ROS20VSK Palm Sander Review

It’s really good for the price. Minimal vibration in your hand and very comfortable to hold for an extended period of time. Powerful enough for normal sanding applications that would require an orbital sander.

“Well built and comfortable to hold”. These were my first two thoughts when I unpacked the ROS20VSK. The seams and material transitions (rubber to plastic) have very tight tolerances; I always look for this on any tool designed to vibrate or rotate. If it starts out loose, it’s only going to get worse as it’s used more. The button locations are very smartly placed (we’ll discuss more in the review section).
The Bosch ROS20VSK Orbit Sander is designed to be used for a long time and keep you comfortable while working with it. I completed two wood door repair projects with this sander (and Durham’s Water Putty – click to see the review) a few weeks back while I was testing this 5in orbital sander. It sanded the water putty with little to no effort; you can see the pictures of the door before I sanded it and while I was sanding in the upper sections. I was very impressed how quickly it sanded through the patch and how little vibration was in the sander. For those of you that have used Durham’s, it is very hard and can, at times, take a little elbow grease to get all of the extra material off the surface. The finished product looked very smooth and did not have any circular cuts in the wood/patch. I would recommend the ROS20VSK to all of our The Tool Space users: DIY, Handyman, and Contractor.
